Buck-a-shuck is Mon-Fri 4:30-6:30 and all day Sunday. BTW, it's not $1/oyster any more, but it's still a good deal

Went to Von's tonight for our wedding anniversary. Fortunately it was relatively quiet, which meant our food came out very promptly. Chris was a great server, apologized for bread coming out late, which we didn't really mind. Our steaks and veggies and sides were good. A little bit pricy in my opinion, but good quality food. Mac and cheese didn't have a lot of cheese flavour to it I found, but my ribeye was nice as were the veggies. Truffle fries were nice.
Although I enjoyed our dinner, it wasn't up to the usual standards that I have come to know at this restaurant. The music was a little too loud although we enjoyed the songs that were playing, there was a bright light shining in my eyes from the serving station, and our waitress was not very attentive waiting until our meal was half gone before coming to check on us. She did not fill up empty water glasses (had to ask her twice). Had the filet mignon and it was a little tough compared to last time. Perhaps they were a little low on quality cuts being we were there a couple days after busy Valentine's Day. Might go back but only based on previous experience (had this been our first visit, we wouldn't).
My husband really enjoyed his meal- steak cooked exactly how he liked it (med-well) and the sides were great. My steak came out med-well instead of rare, but they quickly re did the steak. I feel like the steak was over done because it was super thin- not what I expected in a NY Strip, and a thin steak is really easy to overcook. Our waiter was excellent in handling the issue, and overall service was excellent, and the decor was good. I just wish the quality of the meat was higher, especially for the price paid.
Great for game night brawls with a touch of sophistication 😜. The Oysters are shucked slightly better now, less shards and the selection and quality has greatly improved. Sad to see "buck a shuck" go, but what can you do? Bookmark Vons, it's a gem.
This classic steakhouse is consistently satisfying. A group of us went for a team dinner , and we were impressed with quality of the food. We sat in the dining room our server Chris was attentive but not over bearing and let us enjoy our time there. We found out they have private rooms for larger groups, and we will most likely make this our birthday spot from now on. :D
An amazing meal at Vons. The staff were friendly, the executive chef came out to say hi and to check on our meal. They kitchen mixed up one of the sides, which was okay after confirming it met our dietary needs.The steaks were done to perfection. We ordered the bacon scallops starter, which was good. Maybe a little over done. But the shrimp and scallops skewer topper I had was cooked perfectly.The seasoning on the veg and potatoes was so tasty for both our meals. Especially the peppercorn gravy.But the star was definitely the New York striploins. Delicious!My only other critique is that they can maybe work on plating of the steak to make the meal a little more visual.
If, like me, you are stranded in Edmonton; Consider Vons! Food atmosphere music staff are all a win. That being said it is a steakhouse, so may not be not something a vegetarian would appreciate (they do have vegetarian options). Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald just entertained me through the two amazing items you see below. Thank you very much Vons.
Food was just okay. Drinks came later than steaks. Music was cutting out like old radio station.
It was a nice place to go for dinner. We just tried the assortment of oysters and scallops which were all delicious. I couldn't afford to eat there every day. After $150 bill unfortunately we were still hungry. But overall a lovely place.
Their oysters are worth trying. The prime rib here is also quite good. The way they do their steak, however, is not as appetizing for me as at other restaurants.
The lamb was tasty... the sides were very good too. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. The prices are premium, but our experience was proportionally richer as well. I loved it there.
Everything from the food to the service was exceptional, the food is a bit pricey, but it was definitely worth it.
Pricey but good. Enjoyed a long conversation with no pressure to leave. They printed our bill, but waited for us to ask for it.
I recently attended a Hip Hop Brunch event held at Vons Steak House in June 2019. Service was quite slow, as we waited 25+ minutes for our multiple drink orders. The brunch delivery was very disappointing. I ordered the avocado toast which as you can see was made on 1/2†sliced sourdough bread that looks like it was “Wonder Bread†and the hash-browns were bland lukewarm. Overall, the service, food quality, and presentation were lack lustre and I would not recommend dining here.

Very good service and atmosphere. Fantastic appetizers and entrees, too. Great restaurant just off of Whyte, certainly worth a visit if you're in the area.
Went to Vons to celebrate and had a wonderful experience, the service was amazing and the food was perfect from the oysters to the cook of the steak right to the very last bite of desert - also, they make a helluva good old fashion. Thanks for a great night!
My wife and I went there for our first date in 2014. The meal cost over $200 with tip and as soon as I consumed their oysters I suffered from a serious case of food poisoning and spent the rest of the evening purging in their restroom. I kick myself now for not complaining at the time but we have never been, nor do we ever plan to go, back. Disappointing.
Very pricey and not worth it. Oysters weren't available. The bar tender put regular iced T in my long island iced T.... I have no reason to ever go back or recommend this place. After wanting to go for so long I was extremely disappointed. Waitress staff had to ask what drink i ordered before they nrought it to the table.... 15 more minures larer my martini showed up NOT in a martini glass.... The list goes on....
I had perhaps the best steak ever last night at Von's. The oysters were amazing actually the entire meal was incredible! I highly recommend Von's as it is an amazing place to dine!
Went here for a birthday and was disappointed by the quality of the food. The bread tasted very cheap and was not fresh. The clam chowder barely had any taste. Also the medium steak ordered came out well done. When a new steak was provided, it was rare... The service was fine but it was way too pricey for the food quality. You are much better off going to the Keg.
Everybody was lovely and incredibly attentive. Will return!
Was here recently for a staff Christmas Party. The food was great the room was a bit tight for everyone but we made it work.I only have two minor points: 1, You differently need to staff better for large groups. We only had one server for close to 40 people and it took a very long time to get drinks and food to everyone. She was working as hard as she could and did a great job but she needed help. 2, Your washrooms are like a sauna, everyone was talking about how hot it was. I have to agree it was very warm in the washrooms. Other then the two minor details the food and drinks was really great and I will definitely be back for a dinner.
My boyfriend and I arrived there around 7:30pm on a Sunday night on a long weekend. It did not seem too busy and were seated right away on the patio as we requested. The hostess advised us that the oysters were on special (the main reason we went there) and that our server would let us know which ones were still available.We sat at our table for 30 minutes and were only served water. During this 30 minutes, there were 4 servers in the patio section serving and clearing all the other tables but ours. There was also was seemed like a manager come out twice to look around. Still, we were not asked for so much as a drink order.The operations seem to have gone quite down over the years. There seemed to be no one held accountable and each server that made eye contact with us seem to just assume someone else was taking care of us.Quite the disappointment. We will not be returning.
The food was amazing: wagyu carpaccio, escargot, the soup du jour, creme brulee, and chocolate mousse cake. It was a girls night out and we shared the applies family style. Will definitely be going back. The menu has a wonderful selection. If you like seafood, Von's is the place to go. Love that the Chef came over to our table on multiple occasions to check in on us and make sure we were enjoying the food. The creme brulee is absolutely perfect. Crisp, light, and absolutely delicious!
I've gone multiple times for buck-a-shuck on Sundays and it has always been a good experience. Unfortunately on our most recent visit the price had gone up to $1.50-a-shuck, but it's still worth it. Bacon wrapped scallops and fresh mussels are also really good.
In the past we had excellent experiences at Vons. In comparison our most recent visit was disappointing. Service was neglectful. At least twice members of our party had to go in search of our waiter for small items - drinks that had not arrived at the table; another bottle of wine. There was a significant gap between service of the first appetizer and the others. The prime rib was impressive. The ribeye steak a touch too salty. And one of the orders was wrong. I believe the problem was inexperience and not incompetency... we'll likely return but it'll be a little while.
Went here for staff Christmas party and the staff seemed very unorganized and understaffed for such a large party. Food was decent, steak was overcooked. They do have great cocktails though.
Decent food and friendly staff but the prices are rather steep for the quality offered. The options for scotch & bourbon are rather limited for an upscale steakhouse. There are better options in Edmonton for quality steaks. But, of course, your mileage may vary so I recommend that you visit at least once and make your own conclusion.
It had a really good atmosphere and the food was amazing, the only thing I didn't like was that the portion for the lobster was very small.
This place clearly knows how to satisfy their clients. Constantly with a friendly attitude. The food is affordably priced, constantly fresh and neat.

Oh my lord, this place is amazing! It was my first time going to Von's. There were 5 of us & the waiter whom waited upon us was amazing! We had reservations for 5:00 pm on Christmas Eve & our waiter never rushed us (even after it had gotten extremely busy)! ðŸ‘
Wanted to give it a try but grill was off at 10:45 on a Saturday.
First and foremost the food was excellent. Everyone in our party had a different dish and each was excellent, tasty, and well prepared. The service was top notch and the restaurant has a great feel. Not so formal as to be uppity or stifling, not so casual as to be off putting. Just a nice, calm place with a relaxing atmosphere that invites enjoyable conversation with your dinner companions.

I have been to Von's many times. It was our go to for family dinners and special occasions, I am very sad to say that we will have to find another place. Food was amazing but service was terrible. After an hour and a half all we had was appetizers and one drink. We had asked to our entrees at the same time as our appetizers but the server refused. We had a stack of unused menus and wine glasses on our table for over and hour and a half, we finally had to ask to get someone to clear it up. After the appetizers it was quite a wait to order our second round of drinks and entrees. They made mistake on every item my sister-in-law ordered. We ordered our dessert to go because we had already been there for three hours and really just wanted to go home after that length of time. By the time we finally got our bill, we were the last table in the dining room. Best service of the night was the gentleman who took our jackets.
Tried this spot in the past with my friend and I am obsessed ever since. I liked the awesome mood and delightful food and beverages. Keep it up.
Excellent place. Easy parking spot that you don't have to pay for. Mid century decor. Staff are super friendly. Suitable for small functions such a office parties etc. Food is very good. $$$
Very upscale restaurant and atmosphere. Our waiter, Chris, was very polite. The food was good -- the steaks were well worth the price, the seafood pasta was good, the burgers and fries were average. They played the stereotypical elevator/fancy music, but we liked it. The wait time for our food (a table of 6) was average. Overall, a good experience but missing something.
The best steak and oysters in Alberta. They havea great selection of fresh oysters from the best in the west to the best in the east. Very nice atmosphere. Great knowledgeable staff and all around amazing restaurant!!!!

Room, beautiful. Staff, helpful, friendly and polite. We both had steak, it tasted fantastic and was the perfect temp. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because the sides really feel like they're after thoughts, not creative and no real attention paid. I know I know, it's a steak house, but for the price I feel that more care and attention is to be expected and it fell flat for us. Would also mention that the first round of bread was quite stale. Must add that it is a nice romantic place to take a date, ask for a spot next to the fire place.
Came here with a group of friends. I didn't get any oysters that night how ever my friends did. Some of them said the oysters were good and some was alright. Well I the seafood pasta and it was NOT worth the money!! Over cooked and there was just not enough flavoring. The bread was not cooked either. Tasted like dough. If it wasn't for the decent service I had I would have rated this one star. I might consider coming back to try some oysters.
Very disappointing evening. The salad was excellent in taste and presentation, however, the main course was mundane in both. We requested dessert and waited - and waited - and waited. (The restaurant was never more than one third full.) What a difference a year makes! Last year, we felt we were pampered, this year, we were ignored. We shall not be returning.

Even if the service was good, the prices are way above the quality of the food. We had crab legs with baked potatoes, the side was almost cold. The cole slaw was obviously not fresh. The only really good thing we had was the goat cheese steak.
In spite of it being very busy, our large dining party was handled very well. Diane was great and we couldn't have had a better experience. The food and the atmosphere are excellent.
This was my 4th time dining here. The service was decent although there was quite the wait in between drinks (bonus: didn't have a bigger bill which would've meant a bigger tip) we were there for a celebration so that was annoying. The best part was the food. The cooks did a stellar job of preparing my filet to perfection. The mushroom risotto was a revelation and I was very impressed with both the oscar add on and the lobster tail (all was cooked perfect). The cost is slightly higher than the Keg but you get the amazing selection of Oysters so that is a bigger pull for me
